Mk4 Yaris is my most hated car ever. I loathe the thing.

Either there is a dud Battery or car not in use much. I would put a bigger Battery in 45Ah, that's much cheaper and less hassle than changing a car. Yaris hybrid gen 4 is still the best super compact car in the world for me.

But you have to use it regularly. Leaving the car for 4 days should be OK though. Sounds like a duff Battery from the beginning for the OP.

Would give a few more days buffer than the 35ah, sometimes that's all it needs to use the car for longer period to get it charged up.

Haven't driven mine for almost 3 days, measured the Battery - 12.38v. Did a 15 mins drive, 12.72v.

I’m convinced the only problem is these Mutla batteries. Less than £100 will put them right because what I can say with a lot of confidence is that deserting Toyota for virtually any similarly priced vehicle will end in tears.  The majority of taxis in Manchester are Toyota and there’s a reason for it.  I sincerely hope they’ve chosen a better quality Battery for the newer models.

I don't really see the logic. If the use pattern is putting in less Ah than the overall drain, then even a 450Ah Battery will eventually be dead.

The logic, there are the odd occasion where one would go on holiday, a few days extra buffer for peace of mind and able to start and back to enough driving for Battery charge. For someone who doesn't drive then put in ready mode, many pages of this stuff.

It’s not just a flat Battery issue, it’s a duff Battery issue in many cases.  Fitting the higher output Yuasa Battery covers both bases.

I'm strongly leaning toward that theory too - I'm suspecting the OEM batteries were just bad from the get go, possibly due to long term storage at partial charge, and are not even holding their rated charge capacity when they got to us.

You are right, but we're starting think there is another factor at play, which is that the factory batteries are already on their way out as they are showing they don't hold a charge as well as they should

Another symptom of a degrading Battery is it's harder to charge as their internal resistance increases, which would mean they're not taking on as much charge as they should which makes the problem worse.

So far everyone who's fitted the Yuasa hasn't had a problem, as far as I've seen, but a few people who've had warranty replacement have had the problem reoccur.

I love the look of the Yaris cross icon but I’m worried after reading all this ! Is that made in France too !?

For sure. But fixing that just means replacing the Battery - same size is fine.

If there is a fundamental issue of more Ah leaving than being replaced then neither a replacement or larger Battery will be a long term fix.

Ironically I'm having similar problems with our other car. I've replaced the Battery and it seems good, but having recharged the old battery it seems to be holding its charge, so I'm not sure it isn't just short journey issues.

The drain on a non connected battery will be different to one in the car.

A non connected Battery will last about 3 month then it will need charging before fitting!.

Yes. That's why I'm observing it. If it is really knackered (it's less than 2 yo) then I'd expect it to lose charge a bit faster.

Battery issue is not where the car is made, but where the Battery is sourced, and its capacity too.

I don't know for certain, but it's highly probable given that the mechanics of the Cross and the standard Yaris are identical.

Yes, it’s identical Battery in the Yaris and the Cross.  I’ve fitted replacement Yuasas in both.
