Yaris cross Nav map updates

Ok just been looking how to update my wife's Nav map and as she has the newer system (toyota smart connect 2 ) when compared to my Rav 4 I am not sure how to do it and the manual is as clear as mud, Does the cross just update the maps In the background ?, I have updated the system but cant find anything for the nav.

I think it is dynamic updates over the air.

I had an odd problem in March.   I was told there was a software update  but when I tried to install it I was told it was already installed. 

The upshot was the maps were not available.   It took a month for Toyota UK to provide a fix to the dealer.

Thanks, my wife doesn't seem to have had an update for over a year and cant seem to find much information on it !
