Yaris drivers side lock not unlocking with the key

Recently bought a 2003 yaris and the drivers side door doesn't unlock meaning I have to unlock the passenger side and then open the driver's door with the pull tab.

I have a feeling the lock actuator is either faulty or gummed up as even using the lock button on the drivers door doesn't unlock/ lock it. I have to use the little pull tab.

The key on the driver's door also can't turn to unlock it. I've managed to do it a handful of times but I don't want to force the key to try and unlock it.

Anyone else had this problem and does anyone know if it's something I can fix by myself or would I need a specialist?

Thanks!

The lock is mechanical, more that likely the linkage has come off or the plastic has cracked due to age

Would this be something I can replace quite easily if it is broken?

I haven't actually looked inside the door just yet so I still don't know what exactly is wrong

Take a look it's an older car you learn to fix things yourself just out of necessity
