Anyone changed heater core on 07 corolla verso?

Hi everyone,

I have a 2007 corolla verso 2.2 d4d sr which I had for just over 2 years. I have never had hot air in the cabin that I can remember. I think it's because it was ran with not enough coolant and rust has built up as I can see some and I noticed some when I changed the thermostat a year ago.

Partly why I am asking is because after about 15 mins of driving or on the motorway the red coolant light flashes twice or so then goes off. I am a bit worried as I don't wanna cook the engine. The coolant needed topping up as well last year me and the cap was loose after driving.

I really want to change the heater matrix but I don't really wanna take the whole dash out. Has anyone done it on these cars? Is it possible from behind the glove box?

I did qualify as a level 3 technician but I did it as a hobby and haven't worked properly in a workshop but I would say I am quite capable and I should be able to do this.

I need to find someone who has done one on this car though if possible or fet some extra advice please?
