Picked up my new 2023 2ltr GR Sport today and must say it drives very nice.

Just two questions if someone can help please.

I have been out and about today and unlocked / locked the car on a few occasions, tonight when I pulled the car into the garage I locked the car using the key fob and the car emitted 2 low level beeps. It hasn't done that other times when I locked the car today. Any ideas please.

Today I placed a coat on the back seat, with the coat removed, every time I turn the car off I get a message saying 'check the back seat' is there a way to cancel the message?

Any info would be gratefully received, Thanks, Paul.

Hi Paul, congratulations on your new corolla you should be able to turn the message off.. The reminder can be turned off by following these steps: 1. Press and hold the power button on the center console to turn off the engine. 2. Press and hold the power button again for two seconds to enter the settings menu. 3. Use the arrow keys to scroll down to the “Rear Seat Reminder” option and press the “Enter” key. 4. Use the arrow keys to select “Off” and press the “Enter” key. 5. Press the “Exit” key to return to the previous menu.

Not sure about the two beeps biut I'm sure someone will help you with this. Enjoy your new car☺️

the multiple beeps is telling you something wasn't as it should be, like a door open, the engine still being on.  Revisit the car and the dash will warn you, otherwise retrace your turn off steps.

Re heating and ventilation system. I tend to run the system on auto, do owners keep the air con on permanently when in auto setting?

No.

If it's colder outside than your desired temperature you only need a/c when it's damp and you need to demist the windows or dry off the occupants/contents of the car.

Even if it's always required for cooling I think that it's a good idea to turn the a/c off every so often (last couple of minutes of your journey for instance) to dry the system off and prevent it getting smelly from bacterial growth on the damp bits. (if you get hit by a wave of damp, whiffy air when you turn the a/c off this is why)

Remember to turn it on every so often in cold weather to keep the seals lubricated, using the windscreen demister should cover this.

AC on or off as required and as mentioned above.
I usually keep it ON when in auto mode during rainy days or summer time and there is no need to turn ac off before you finish your journey, actually it is better to leave it permanently ON when in auto mode.
In the winter when cold and dry I keep AC off and hvac in manual mode with air flow from outside and towards windscreen and feet, temperature set at 22C° and fan speed 2.
The hvac on these cars even in manual mode with or without ac ON the temperature control is always automatic. Very smart thing indeed.

Whilst I disagree about leaving the a/c on permanently in auto mode that is a great tip about manual settings in winter. I'll be trying that.

The car hvac system remains active after we switch off the car and walk away. There are flaps that get activated by the hvac ecu, they open and close as required to let the hoses and air ducts vents refresh, plus the ac core has a drainage pipe that will take any water and moisture away.
Seriously if ac is ON in any mode no need to turn off prior to leaving the car. The system does all for us and it is always automatic. Ac on or off as per personal preference. 👍

My AC is always on, manual mode, never turn it off, temp can be controlled up or down to suit for any time of year

Re the double bleep, it has been know for people to "forget" to turn the car off, especially if new to a Hybrid as there is no engine noise, if you then get out to try and lock the car you get a warning, might have been that, or left in N not P

I leave my ac on all the time. Have done in all my cars with it.

I do and always have with vehicles that have climate control. I leave it set to auto and only adjust the temperature. Typically I raise the temperature in summer and lower it in winter. That might sound odd but in summer I'll typically be wearing shorts and T-shirt whilst in winter it'll be long trousers and a jumper.

Now I've had the chance to play around a bit I've found that I can set the vent direction (windscreen and feet), temperature and then use the button to cycle through Fast/Normal/Eco. No turning it to Auto or setting fan speeds, but the screen tends to stay nicely demisted.

If required I can just turn the A/C on (button or voice control), don't use the front demister button as that sets the fan to full blast (noisy) and messes with the other settings.

In a relatively new car and if you drive shorter trips only the best settings are auto mode and only change temperature up or down when necessary.
The rest the car will do it for you.
New cars need a couple of times a good clean on the windscreen from inside to stop steaming up.
