The market is currently overloaded with 69 plate RAV4s all in Design spec, all with approx' 30k on the clock and all with near identical number plates starting WU69 (ZYF for example).  There must be 80+ of them available at very reduced prices (£22 - £24k when standard rate is about £26-£28k for similar non WU69 reg cars) - Carstore alone have 20+.  Obviously they've come from the same source just wondered if anyone knows where (motability? (we had a WU ex motability Ford at one point) or a rental or lease company)?

Just curious at this stage but on face value anyone looking for a 4 yr old RAV4 would appear unlikely to get cheaper than these for a while.

The plate identifier WU indicates that the cars were first registered in the Bristol area.

Possibly Toyotas cars for employees who get them as a job perk.

They come off lease/contract or rental fleet £22-24k is about right for the current market even from a main stealer

the smaller cars like the Aygo and Yaris are still commanding strong money

Watch out for insurance costs due to the theft risk

Thanks.  Aware of insurance issues having read the thread on here for the past year - not great!

Not looking to buy at the moment (although likely to be my next car in a couple of years) but was puzzled regarding the source and price difference (Toyota Approved are typically several thousand more for the same spec'/mileage - much cheaper than they were 12 months ago but vast majority no where near the price of these 'fleet' ones).

None of the WU ones seem to be for sale in the Toyota network (which would suggest they've not been maintained by Toyota) so assume they are not ex staff etc.

Why do you think they haven’t been maintained (serviced) by Toyota? A Toyota approved used car also comes with a comprehensive warranty package and any franchise dealers will always price same brand cars at a premium.
The used car market demand is easing and values following similarly. I personally can’t get excited by why they are the price they are. The vendor is a business and take commercial risks as do main dealers.

Maybe all WU plates because they have been registered at port of entry, as the vast majority of RAV4s come into Portbury?

Yes, but they all go to at least Burnaston before they can be put onto the road ... 😉

And they are not usually registered until sold.

When I bought my car it was just over a year old there were lots of cars in dealerships all very similar on similar (batched) plates. All were "Forest and Fens" registrations (Nottingham/Derby) with the First letters and year all the same. Only the 3 random letters were different.

I believe that Toyota was the first owner of these cars and they were pushed out to Dealership for "Approved Used" at 1 year old.

So far I have drawn a blank in trying to confirm that.
