Hello, I put a post in about this last week but think I posted for the wrong part (possibly)

please see photos for the part I need. It’s a fuel pump that sits inside the tank under the back seat.
the top of the pump has a hairline crack and is leaking fuel.

it’s been glued temporarily but will need a new fuel pump soon and it’s such a good car I don’t want to scrap it - just cannot find this part.
many help welcome

please email catbray@hotmail.com

thank you

Hi Catherine,

Is this still the original part number you quoted or is this a different number. Has you mechanic advised if the plastic section is available as a separate part. The pump number you originally gave can be ordered as per my email, but it has a 4 -6 week delivery. is it possible for your mechanic to fix the part again until the new pump arrives. If not then ask him for the part no if it is available .👍

Hi Bper

yes I spoke to my mechanic. I don’t think it’s possible to just get the plastic part.

I checked out the a Amazon version, I’m concerned it’s the wrong piece snd also im Not sure I can cope 4-6 weeks without a car.
thank you so much

Hi, Catherine,

Is the plastic part definitely not temporary repairable. What did your mechanic use to repair the hairline crack before. You are aware this fuel pump has been discontinued and it very difficult to obtain hence the 4- 6 week wait. If this is the right part for your vehicle the part number you gave is suggests it is.

Have you had a second opinion if this can be repaired and have you contacted Toyota to ask if the part number has been either superseded or if they know another fuel pump that will fit your model.

You could contact scrap yards if they have this fuel pump. Also have a look at sites online that maybe advertising breaking your model for spares.

Unless the plastic part is available as a separate part you are pretty much stuck with one of the possible options unless someone has better information.

I assume your car is off the road at the moment could someone lend you a car till the part arrives. Maybe your mechanic can advise with this.

Hope this helps🙂

Does it actually need an internal fuel pump? would it be possible to fit one within the fuel line to suck the fuel out, even if this means drilling a new access port.

Alternatively if it's plastic can somebody 3D print a new part? Probably too complicated a shape, or possibly even mill one out of a solid piece of plastic.

Just ideas. I make things all the time when something doesn't fit, though usually with wood. You might even get a replacement made of metal a la "Repair Shop," you're in the right area I believe 😉
