The tailgate will not open. It unlocks using the exterior button on the tailgate but won't open and makes two beeps. It also won't open using remote or the lower dash button (again two beeps).

Local dealer wants £125 for diagnostic checking even though under warranty. Battery is good and I have tried with the engine running.

The diagnostic fee is there in case the fault isn't a warranty issue, and the dealer's time is then covered. If the fault is a warranty issue, the fee isn't charged.

Quite common nowadays across a number of franchised dealers, not only Toyota.

Hi,

what can you do is to open it manually if you can or help the actuators lift up the tailgate and then lubricate the hinges with wd-40 and thin machine oil.
Try after if the automatic function can open and close. Often when hinges get dried prevent the door from free movement and the actuators stop working as safety precaution.
Good luck

All sorted now. In the vehicle settings accessed via the steering wheel there is an option to turn the power tailgate off.
