Can someone please tell me what the default mode is for the PCS warning system ?

How do I switch it on and off ?

When I start the car, the dash says it is  off. I switch the LTA off manually on the steering wheel because I don't like it I find it annoying and unnecessary

both default to on when you cycle the key, it can only be changed with techstream or mid - high-end scan tool

If PCS is OFF when you start the car, did you set this yourself?

What symbol exactly do you see on the dash? I have PKBS switched off, and that remains off between power cycles. If I switch PCS off (and there is no reason to do so in normal operation) it will default ON the next time.

Another note: PCS sensitivity will default to MID when it comes back on. You will need to set it to MAX manually if that is the setting you prefer. It will remember the sensitivity so long as you do NOT switch PCS off in the menu.

Last week I did have "PCS Unavailable" due to condensation issues, but it also included a message as well as the PCS OFF light.

this shows the symbol, in brown, underneath the zero, when I put the key in. However, it goes off when I start the engine. See the next photo.

and I switch the LTA off (right hand switch because I don't like it beeping), but what is the button on the left next to it ?

Note: when I drive, i still get a brake warning on the dash when I passed close to cars parked up further down my street. So maybe the PCS is working as this is what it is supposed to do ?

Maybe the PCS unavailable was a one off due to bad weather etc, I haven't had it before this 1 occasion, and not since either. I also got the "skid" sign on the dash shortly after, but only the one time I got that too.

I have not touched the PCS button, unless it is by accident. I'm being very wary of these buttons.

It’s used to adjust the distance in DRCC, dynamic radar(controlled) cruise control….

I have had the PCS unavailable message on a few occasions, but only when taking my wife to work at about 7.30am when it is cold and damp and put it down to condensation forming. It goes off after a few seconds, sometimes a minute or so.

In picture #1 all the lights are on as the ignition has been switched on, these are "check" lights and will extinguish as the systems check out as OK, Picture # 2 is a few moments later lights remaining are seat belt reminder bottom left, Power steering this can only go out once the car is in Ready mode and Power steering is active, next bottom right is the Engine management warning per the PAS it will go out once car is on in ready mode, above right hand side is Headlights on, you also have your full beam headlights on Why? finally top left is the parking brake light which goes out as parking brake releases.

I found this

Ref the headlights, yes I see they are on auto. I can't find how to turn auto off, I would far rather operate them manually. I think I have touched something accidentally, so how do I turn them to manual ?

There is a button with a headlight icon and an A on it - That turns the auto-high beam on and off.

Also, check your light stalk isn't pushed forward, as that will activate the high beam.

  • 1 year later...

Please, can someone tell me why PCS warning light sometimes comes on at night when I am driving? I have tried to put it off from the switch, but it still blinks on the dashboard once or thrice, then goes off and on again.

It is usually because the system can’t “see” so gives you a warning, at this time of year it is probably condensation inside, between the forward facing camera and the windscreen to overcome this turn on your screen heater and set the AC to max defrost and clear the condensation
