bZ4X User Profiles - Help!

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

This is driving me nuts!  Online Toyota help and and local vertu dealer next to useless on this issue !.....so I am reaching out to you good people.  In simple speak, my profile as the main driver is set up OK and linked to my Toyota APP account.  What I want to do is set up a profile for my wife....the manual says you can have up to 3 saved profiles.

When I press the add profile button (+Torso Icon)User Profile Issue Screenshots.pdf, it takes me to the screen that links you to the App and QR code etc. Since you only are allowed 1 My Toyota account linked to the car (the main driver), this would imply my wife has to have her own MyToyota account - but she can't as you cannot have the same car on 2 accounts!

Am I missing something?  Or pressing the wrong button?  Help much appreciated.  Screenshot also attached so you know what "button" I am pressing.User Profile Issue Screenshots.pdf

Add your wife to the existing ( Your ) MyT account this needs to done to verify access to the car, once this is done you can select how the car recognises her, on the BZ that can be Her key, her Phone ( bluetooth connection ) or facial recognition

Thanks Lee,  Where do I do that in the App?  Cannot find in personal details or elsewhere?

This is my nightmare as well. It is so complicated in th UK. You can add secondary user with your Toyota account online in the USA! I don't know why UK Toyota team is not activating this fetaure!

1) Create a free Toyota account for your wife.

2) Install application and sign in this account with your wife mobile phone.

3) First add her profile to the car using her key and phone (please leave your phone and key while doing this process it can confuse the car).

4) After successfully adding the car with your wifes account, add the car in your main account using your key and phone.

Valla you will have two user profiles in the car.

Not: If you want to be primary driver you need add your account first then flow above steps 😊 I know this is a nightmare!

Thank You - sounds like both of us have have had the runaround on this :bangin:......and yes I did notice that the US is different  - heaven knows why?

I will have a go using your instructions.

Thank you again.

I found this works for me.  The separate problem that arises, though, is when both my wife and I go on a journey and we have both sets of keys with us at the same time.

you can change the profile in the car but it’s not exactly simple.

we’ve found a workaround - when we go back to the car from, say, a service station, whoever is going to drive has to approach the car first, before the other key gets in range.  But what a stupid workaround…

Come on Toyota.  You have Face ID in the car.  Connect Face ID, key, phone and adjust the profile automatically?  That way it won’t matter if you’ve got two sets of keys with you.

Toyota won't see this as they don't visit the Club ......

You can register Face ID and deregister keys? In this way car will recognise from faces only.

I manage to sort this quite simply but I needed to work it out.

1. If not already my wife needed to set up a My Toyota app and create a log in.  Do not add the BZ4x as only one person can have access to the car on the app.  You simply create an account.

2. Use my wife's key to open the car and start it.  on the screen, add user and it comes up with a QR code.  I scanned the QR code, using the camera app on my wife's phone and then clicked on the web address the comes up on the screen.

3. Step 3 above takes you to a log in page and I logged in using my wifes My Toyota log in details.  Hey presto, my wife was added as a second user and then I could select the option to recognise her key.  She also added facial recognition when I called her out to the car.

All now working for two separate users, identified by key and facial recognition on the Bz4X.

It took me a week to work this out so hopefully it will help someone else.
