Air conditioning Is unacceptably noisy. While the car Is moving and the AC is on, there Is a cyclic,  recurrent noise. I have bene told that It Is because the engine is too small.

It Is something not acceptable in any car.

The aircon fan that cuts in and out on the previous Aygo is only really noticeable when the car is stopped.

The Aygo X being a newer model should hopefully have better sound deadening.

If you can hear it whilst driving and with the windows closed suggest you contact your dealer and get them to check the system.

It's nothing to do with engine size.

I had the car checked and I was told that there are no defects and they can't do anything about It. How damn can engineers conceive such a noise whenever the aircon Is on? I have to wear earplugs.

This can't be true of a Toyota.

I was on many differenti cars and never Heard anything like that

Earplugs !

That's a bit dramatic.

You'll just have to get used to it or change your car.

i guess that's why test drives are so important...

But surely if no other Aygo X owners have the same problem, that to me clearly means there is an issue with that cars air con.

I'd take it back to the dealer and insist on having the Aygo X with the noisy air con alongside another Aygo X for comparison.

Where is the noise coming from, the compressor, the evaporator, the condenser fan, the heater matrix fan?

That's all of what I would have assumed the Toyota technician checked during his fault finding.

I honestly think they have just fobbed Maramara off and hope he/she disappears !!

I'd bet the "cyclic, recurrent noise" is the fan in the engine bay switching on and off.
The OP needs to compare what is happening with their vehicle to another one at the dealership.

I had an Aygo, the fan is surprisingly noisy.

The fans are noisy, my mk2 used to be louder especially at standstill. My mk3 is much better though.

I suggest setting the AC on the 1st level, where it is both efficient and hardly audible.

On the maximum, yes it is loudy.

On what setting do you have the air conditioning & what temperature? Does your car have climate control or only standard AC?

I have hissing noises in my Aygo X as well that come and go when the Airconditioning is on. I believe it is the expansion of the refrigerant over the expansion valve and the periodic behavior is due to the compressor kicking in and switching off. It is audible, but not annoying. I have the manual air-conditioning type.

I have to admit, but my (now sold) Aygo X pure had noisy air conditioning as well, mainly from the compressor area, sounded like a bag of spanner’s in the height of summer. Even though it’s well publicised that A/C draws a considerable amount of engine power, this seemed excessive as well, almost like the pump was “too tight” causing excessive draw and noise. I never got it investigated by dealer, sold it before had chance.

I'm a bit OTT when it comes to noises, rattles and creaks in cars, they just bug the hell out of me.

In my Aygo X my air con seems to be fine with no unusual noises apart from the usual blower noise coming out of the vents when I have it on max.

I hear the hissing too on an automatic aircon system, aygoX.

No other sounds detected.
