I’m due to collect my new (to me!) iQ2 2013 and looking at the enthusiasm in this forum am looking forward to it. What attracted me to it was the low-ish price, 25k mileage and the fact it had a TNS510 installed.  Looking at the Toyota tech website there doesn’t seem to be much info for iQ users now (for a car discontinued 7 years ago), but the options I have seem to be:

1) Update the mapping

2) Replace the head unit with a Pioneer unit as a swap out to newer technology.  It appears these units are only marginally more expensive than (1) !

What worked best for you, what kit did you use? Also, I suppose only the standard dish has a CD player?  TIA

I've considered a transplant, but in the end stuck with our original TNS510 and an updated map card off eBay. IT just works. Maps and navigation work well, offline so no issues when in bad signal areas. Audio is excellent, you will not get better quality audio from an off the shelf unit - i suspect most of the quality comes from the Speakers fitted to the sat nav original cars. The bluetooth connection from phone can be a bit temperamental, so we just got an aux cable which is tied to our charger cable with a usb-c splitter to the right of the steering wheel where we have our phone holder.

Thanks Iain - The TNS does look well made and clearly the car has been specced to take advantage of it.  All pre-CarPlay of course but if it ain’t broke….   As for map SD cards on an auction site - I got burnt doing the same years ago but with Garmin mapping - someone just copied the files across to SD’s and marketed them at 50% off retail!  I’d rather not support piracy if I can help it - did you get yours from the Toyota spares store or a third party?  Lastly, what’s it called 😄 !

My iPhone works perfect with the BT, the former owner bought the latest maps, but to be honest, I would not bother, navigation is ok, but the whole UI is outdated and clumsy, google maps works better and faster.

The SD card from 2021 is last one. i got a copy from local seller and it works ok.

I’ll find out what version I get when I pop the card next week.  Having read the manual for the 350 (not 510 as I mistakenly assumed earlier) it does seem rather dated and has limited connectivity.  Since this was an upgrade to the CD system does the 350 have an optical media slot anywhere?

I just searched eBay for toyota iQ satnav and got a card for £5.

I don't think they are pirated. I think they are recovered from wrecked cars that use the same system. When I researched I think a lot of them come from Prius'.

Thanks for the tip - my old EV (a Renault Fluence) had a similar SatNav, with a front mounted SD Card (IMHO a really stupid placement) as the only thing stolen from my car was the SD card, and it was a heck of job getting a replacement. Considering it’s only accessed when updating, it could have been hidden behind a flap rather than being on display.
