2009 Yaris-Door ajar alarm/light on when no key in ignition

Hi all, hoping someone can help me here.

Yesterday morning when I went to work, I arrived at my job and parked, turned the car off like I normally do and opened the driver's side door. A long alarm went off and the door ajar light came on my dashboard. I thought it was odd, but I got out of the car and shut the door behind me and the alarm stopped. After my 9 hour work day, I got back in my car and the alarm and light went off again when I opened the door. I hadn't started the ignition or even sat down and it was going off. I still started the car like normal and when the door was shut the alarm stopped. I got home, same thing happened when car was off but the door was open. The alarm and light shut off again when I got out of the car and closed the door.

This morning, my car would not start. I had to call roadside assistance and they jumped my car, but even still the door ajar alarm and light are going off anytime the door is open even when there is no key in the ignition at all.

I'm afraid my Battery will die again when I get off work today or tomorrow morning. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

Get the battery and alternator tested, i take it the headlights are off ?

Headlights are off, yes. That was my very first instinct the first time it happened but I've checked that also.
