Ack, depends how full it is; You might be able to take it on a good hard run, get the engine good and hot and it'll be able to regen (i.e. burn off the soot).

However, if it's so blocked it it can't exhaust properly, you might need to take it to a dealer or specialist to have it cleaned out...

Go for a drive on the motorway.  Keep the engine above 2000 rpm.  This will cause the DPF system to attempt a regeneration.  Hopefully this will solve the issue.  If that does not work you could do a forced regeneration, which would mean bringing the car to a mechanic, who will activate the forced regen via the ECU.  If that does not work, the DPF probably needs to be removed and cleaned/replaced.

Hi guys thanks for the input, used this product TRIPLE QX TQX High Performance DPF Power Clean 375ml from Euro Car Parts only reason this was chosen was it was the only one left on shelf staff said DPF products fly off the shelf !! anyway after a 10 milw charge up the motorway with this stuff in tank light went out. So all good good at the moment but think it will need a proper clean in the near future. Anybody know where the DPF filter is situated in this car?

Good news that the light has gone out, this below is what Toyota recommends and it suggests closer to a 20 mile run, the dpf can be cleaned via a hose on the differential pressure sensor under the bonnet or on the dpf itself in some cases but it's not as simple as simply forcing in the fluid under pressure, I think the car also has to be told it's been cleaned/renewed so that the stored values are reset etc.

Although this is a Toyota van it explains the procedure & principles for this particular method.

I seen a utube video of a guy put that dpf cleaner chemical in threw the sencer on the dpf pored in the bottle then put on the sensor .not sure if was senser or 5 injector hole .but let it soak in then took it for a good drive not sure if anyone else heard about that idea on here if it helps

Quick question I have drove my car up and down from 80mph to 70mph and others for 30min what's the big thing about 40mph and what gear do it need to be in. I'm one of those guys that hate reving the sht out of diesel engines I would put it in 6th gear and go down the road at 1 and a half thousand rpm

Haha I wish I knew the answer Joe, obviously 40 ish is what Toyota recommend and you'd have to assume that they know the best methods for their own products, maybe the sightly higher rev range at 40ish is simply the most efficient way to get the dpf up to temp in order for it to regen, I think it's about 600 degrees C though I wouldn't swear to it.

Mine is my first 6 speed and like you I love that at motrway speeds it seems it's just a little over tickover, I can't wait to get it into 6th, kinda funny becuase I visit Wales now and again and they want you to drive everywhere at 20mph, yeah right, not in your most efficient gear you're not, Ironic really that dpf's are supposed to help with cleanliness & efficiency and you basically have to go on a "needless" 20 mile trip, I know most of us probably do that 20 mile trip routinely anyway but folks in rural areas or those  who only pop to the shops might never get to 40mph never mind keep it there for 30 mins

It's more about engine loading - The idea is to get it good and hot. If there are some fun hilly roads that are twisty with lots of acceleration and braking zones that would likely get the heat on!
