Spare tyre on rav4 plugin hybrid.

As my Toyota dealer can't provide me with a spare tyre and doesn't have a Rav4 with a spare so I can try, I went to a Suzuki dealer to query about a spare tyre from their across car. Unfortunately they haven't got one and they phone Toyota customer service directly while I was with them. Toyota said that they can't sell me a spare one as on the Rav4 Phev GR Sport the speakers in the boot prevents putting a spare tyre there. I am going on a 1000km trip and and I bought a puncture repair kit plus electric pump hopefully to repair if the puncture isn't too big.  Does anyone has a spare tyre with their Rav4 phev GR Sport?

What Speakers in the boot?!

I understood the UK spec GRS doesn’t have JBL? And my JBL equipped PHEV doesn’t have the speaker in the boot floor so Toyota are talking cobblers. Simply buy a spare wheel kit on eBay

OK ... JBL shows as an option on the GR Sport PHEV - on the October 2023 full press pack, but I'll concede that the only option we can currently add in the configurator is the sunroof.

While the JBL subwoofer isn't under the floor as such, it is in the wall, does intrude into the space for the wheel well which could be an issue for a more space constrained GR Sport.

And, yes, it is distinctly possible that the dealer is talking nonsense ... 😉

The folks at Carnoisseur sell the Road Hero space saver spare for the RAV 4.5s. While they don't explicitly state that it fits the GR Sport PHEV, I believe that it is what Ernie uses in his PHEV and it does, usefully, include a 'will it fit' section that gives the exact dimensions of the wheel - so you can check!

Having a PHEV with JBL I can assure anyone the intrusion into the boot is negligible.

Today I opened the boot and the shaped foam and looked everywhere to see if any Speakers and I couldn't see any. I don't understand why  Toyota customer service told their own people that they can't supply a spare because of Speakers in the Phev GR Sport. To be frank the Speakers system on the GR Sport isn't that great. If only I could try it out with someone who has a spare on their rav4.

In my experience on another matter, much of the time they talk utter cobblers and don’t know their rear from their elbow.

I was a bit suprised our space saver wheel is actual an alloy, I assumed it would be a steel ?
