Interior lights coming with proximity to key fob

Recently I’ve noticed when I approach my 23 Corolla at night the interior lights come on, is this a feature of smart entry, is it when the key fob is close to the car? This happens without touching the door handle and happens when I walk past it with the key fob in my pocket.  
Can this be disabled?

Hi, 

yes it is a function from the keyless entry. You may check with obd adapter if there are options to change that settings, the interior lights has various settings available when checked with Carista.

As we enter the darker mornings and evenings I actually like that feature. 

On a few occasions when I have taken the bins out at night the interior of the car lights up as if to say, hello 🤣
