Toyota Corolla vs Lexus LBX

Hello all,

As you know the Lexus LBX (new baby Lexus) is now available for pre-order.

It is based on the Yaris Cross (and similarly sized), but appears to have a significantly more upmarket and better quality interior. From what I understood, it should be priced in line with the Corolla, which could beg the question: if one is looking for a refined Corolla/Lexus for a reasonable price, should one get a Corolla or a LBX?

The LBX seems to have a more upmarket interior than the Corolla and should have similar space (since the Corolla is not exactly a benchmark in terms of space, being similar to the Yaris Cross in that regard). Not sure if it will ride better and have better refinement (Lexus claims several improvements over the Yaris Cross and is known for refinement; on the other end, it is still a 3 cylinder).

What are your thoughts? As anybody had the change to try the LBX?

It's the equivalent of the Yaris Cross.

There is no Lexus version of a Corolla, I don't think they even do the CT anymore.  The UX is similarly sized to the Corolla Cross but we don't get the Cross in Britain.

The Lexus are more refined than Toyota but the basic engineering and drive trains are the same.

The top spec of the lbx is near 40k, that seem to be on the expensive side for such a small SUV. The ux250 would be the better choice, or just the cross 130 when it comes out.

No comparison between two cars at all. Totally different types and believe me a top spec Corolla hatchback excel is as refined as this baby Lexus or even better. Just visit dealers , check them and test drive both cars and you will see for yourself. Corolla is larger car, fees larger and more solid by all means. This Lexus only can be compared to Yaris cross. Eventually new chr which will be better than lbx. A top spec Toyota product is better than entry or mid range Lexus, it is better equipped and more value for money imo.

Haven't seen the LBX in person, but in pictures the interior seems to be higher quality than the Corolla. Not sure about the insulation and ride comfort, but I would assume Lexus would have a high focus on those than the Corolla.

I was invited to an advance viewing of the LBX and I would say that the interior materials quality was above that of my Corolla. We were told that the car was a pre-production vehicle and I don't know if this would having any bearing on this however.
