Need help fully deciding about the PHEV/Prime RAV4

Hello, this is my first post in the forums. This problem was already discussed a lot of times before because of the Toyota Cablegate, but we don't know what we should do. We have been owning a 2020 Toyota RAV4 AWD non-hybrid since new in Lithuania (a country where snowy winters are common and salt is used on roads regularly), and have seen 0 problems with it except for the acceleration lag that comes with the non-hybrids. Just this summer my son got his drivers license and since I am giving away my old Toyota Verso to him as his first car, we have been looking into the PHEV RAV4 as the next new car in our family because of the possible tax cuts for EV/PHEV vehicles. But just 2 days before going to possibly buy a 08-2022 Toyota RAV4 PHEV (it is being sold by an official Toyota dealership with all the warranties (https://www.toyota.lt/toyota-approved/pdp.toyota-rav4-phev-2022-apdaila-automatine-hibridinis-1fb40cc1-e246-495e-b7a9-5b3bdc159d42)), we found out about the Toyota Cablegate and the problems it causes to hybrids. We are currently lost on what to do since RAV4 PHEV currently is the only car (besides the older-gen Lexus NX350H) that fulfills our needs. We also don't want to buy another non-hybrid RAV4 since there aren't any good ones available on sale right now and we also don't want to switch to other car companies since we have been with Toyota for more than 20 years. My biggest question is do the warranties in Europe cover the high-voltage cable? And did Toyota at least try to fix this problem with the newer PHEV models? Thank you.

The problem has been fixed in the UK PHEV version which are made in Japan. As far as I know the issue was the early phase of deliveries to the US/Canada with the PHEV.

I am pretty sure all European RAV’s (irrespective of type) come from Japan. Until reading this thread I was unaware of the problem and I follow a number of forums. You also need to bear in mind US consumer culture is very litigious and car manufacturers seem to take the blame for anything irrespective of who is at fault.
