Hi All,

we have 2010 Japan import Estima hybrid 2.4l. it showing us a warning message and warning lights are on. Car will drive ok,no loss of power or anything but lights won't go away untill we disconnect and reconnect Battery in the boot.

i have tried to translate error message using google translator.

we have been told that this could be hybrid Battery issue. so just wondering if you guys have seen this before.

any help will be appreciated.

You'd need to plug it in to get the error code, likely to be P0A80.

The 12v Battery in boot can trigger that too. My own car does the same, I have two bad cells. I'm considering a Hybrid Battery replacemnet.

if cells are faulty, can we replace the cells or do we need to replace full Battery?

i suppose it will be expensive job .

Brenw has a point about getting the error code checked. That P0A80 code he mentioned usually relates to an issue with the hybrid Battery. However, it's interesting that your warning lights persist until you disconnect and reconnect the Battery. It could be worth checking the 12v Battery in the boot, as Brenw mentioned. Sometimes issues with that battery can trigger warning lights too.

As for the hybrid battery, it depends on the severity of the cell damage. If it's just a couple of cells, some people opt to replace only the faulty ones. But, and it's a bit of a "but," it's a delicate job, and sometimes it's more cost-effective to replace the entire battery. It can indeed be a bit pricey, unfortunately.

we thought 12V Battery was faulty so we replaced it but it is still doing same. our thinking was because it clears the warning lights by disconnecting it.

we will be taking it to Diagnostic centre and get it scanned. looks like we need to replace cells or replace it altogether.

Thanks for replying, Guys
