Handbrake shoe fitting

Does anybody know the best sequence/method of fitting the brake shoes on Corolla T Sport?

I have tried a couple of times but losing patience as cannot seem to do it on my own, despite having the diagram from Toyota Tech (attached)

So the way ive tried is hooked the shoe onto the cable, put the side clip to hold in place. Thats where I then get stuck as need to put the top middle plate between the left and right shoe as well as the adjuster cog at the bottom between the two shoes. Just very hard to line up and clip the second shoe in without it all falling down. 

Any suggestions?

It's been a while since i have touch that sort of setup, hook the cable up to the shoe, place the shoe, insert the pin and clip to hold that shoe, insert the plate and adjuster place the other shoe, insert the pin and add the clip, fit the lower tension spring then the 2 upper springs

the tricky part is fitting the springs, use long nosed pliers or a hook tool

Yes, pig of a job, though such a long time since we did ours cannot remember the exact sequence, seem to think we did it with the top springs last as @flash just mentions.

Just looking at the Haynes manual it describes it as the reverse of the disassembly.

Remove the shoe clips and pins.

Remove the Adjuster, then the bottom Spring

Holding the shoes near the bottom, pull apart and lift off over the hub, keeping the top springs , plate and shoes together.
