There are many ways to prevent harvesting from your devices with the right application.

Like what?

I'm an electronics & computer specialist and once permissions are allowed there's very little you can do from a phone or tablet to stop it.
You presume that a security app is setup & looking for what that particular app is doing.
I use Malwarebytes Premium on my PCs & phone but I doubt it is able to prevent harvesting from a virtually unknown app supplied for the BM devices where you are forced to accept their permission terms.
I was going to get a BM2 or BM6 but after reading the reviews I decided it was sensible to avoid them.
Use an old deleted phone by all means with nothing on it (ie without banking, social media, email) with a separate user login for Android or Apple but never use your main life phone you use everyday with these devices.

That is exactly the kind of solution I was going to suggest, but using a private DNS like NextDNS is an additional way to prevent nefarious outgoing traffic and provides extra outgoing firewall functionality.

Yes agreed Colin, but 99% of Toyota members here won't know what we are talking about or have any idea how to do it.
Even with my IT experience I've decided against - it's not worth the effort.
Let's invest our time & effort into obtaining better 12V batteries, awareness and safe trickle charging.

I understand where you are coming from, Paul, but I've been paranoid about data security ever since my machine code and PDP11 days long ago and (more recently) after attending a few "whitehat" security courses. But you're right. I'm getting ahead of myself! LOL!

Check out the MyToyota app. The permissions are the same. Chinese chips, American phones made in China, source code for programs available on the Darknet. Where's your security?

Excellent Colin😁. I worked at Systime in Leeds in the early 1980's, doing QA on DEC/CDC hardware. Steep & fast learning curves! We digress oops - apologies to everyone else, back to 12V batteries!

No it's not as simple as that.
The Toyota & Mazda Apps (I don't use either BTW) will be much safer and only do what they are supposed to do, secure to those companies.
They will likely sell or integrate your login email & App data but nothing else from your phone.
Of course the companies are still liable to data breaches as is anyone else.
The BM2/6 app will likely be deceitful and not secure whatever you do.

Check out your own email address(s) on https://haveibeenpwned.com/ to see if your details have been in a data breach.
Invest in Malwarebytes Identity Theft Protection (or similar) if you are concerned.

Hello everyone, if I have issues with my 12V Battery from Yaris Cross Hybrid from 10-2023 (model 2022 I think).
What is the normal value that a Toyota auto service check and when they can replace the 12V Battery?

If I buy a new extended Battery that fit the place of actual one with this replace done not on Toyota service I will lose the warranty of the car?

Even if I want to pay for a new battery the official Toyota service will add only the same 35Ah battery that I think is too small for the short ride I do with my car. When I buy this new car I don't sign nothing that I need to use my car every day for more than 1H in order to charge my 12 V battery.

Can someone to remind me what dimension has this 35Ah Yuasa battery?

Do we have an option to add a battery bigger than 45Ah?

Thanks.

Marius, if you back in this thread you will find that Toyota have begun to replace the 12v Battery under warranty. You should go to our dealer and tell them the 12v Battery is not fit for purpose and you require a better replacement FoC. They should also do an update on the charging module.

Good luck 🤞

Thanks for your reply Pete, I already did and go to them and they say that my alarm and Dashcam use too much power from the 12 V Battery...
Can you help me to share if you know if Toyota service receive an official information regarding replacing 12V Battery and update of the charging module?
They will replace with the same capacity of the Battery

Thanks.

Sorry Marius I haven’t had any dealings with Toyota myself as my car has had no problems, but if your Dashcam and alarm are aftermarket parts they may indeed be an additional drain on the Battery.

The update and new Battery were mentioned by others on this forum.
