Pirelli and Ziex tyres on same axle Corolla Touring Sport

Recommended Posts

I have had to replace a rear tyre on my Toyota Corolla Touring Sport Excel 1.8 (this year's model) - Kwik Fit did not have the Ziex ZE914B make that is on the car so fitted a Pirelli Powergy 92Y XL.  I therefore have two different brands of tyre on the rear axle.  Is this okay?

Thank you

Hi and welcome.
As long as the tyres on the same non driving axle ( rear in your case) are same type and specs and similar tread pattern it won’t be an issue., although not recommended it is ok. 👍

⚠️ Highly recommended not to mix and match tyres on driving axle or use space saver spare tyre for extended time as this will add stress to your transmission differential bearings and gears , extra heat and premature wear.
Mix and match different types of tyres on any axle also not a good idea, for example one or two summer and one or more all season or winter tyres.
This changes car behaviour as each individual corner will have different grip, rolling resistance, water displacement capability.
