Corolla HB 2022 - side parking sensor problem (IPAS)

Hello,

I recently got my basically new Toyota Corolla 2022 (May model, redesign I believe), made in UK, but bought in Germany (left hand ).

A problem that I came across is with side parking sensors. Since the car has that "self-parking" option (IPSA), it comes with these sensors also. They seem to be too sensitive, or something with logic is not working as it should. When in drive, the ones on the left side are too sensitive. They detect objects from as far as 1,5 meters and beep and flash red like it is a couple of cm from the car. That beeping keeps even when at a full stop, for example at a red light. Driving in a traffic jam is very annoying because of that so I have to completely turn off the parking sensors. The same issue is with the side sensors on the right side, but only when in reverse.

I've been at the dealership and they did every test and everything seems fine. Every part is original, and never replaced, painted, etc. Apparently, calibration cannot be done because there are no present errors. A technician at the dealership even said that that's normal because its job is to scan the depth of parking spaces. I get that, but that should be done only when I press the self-parking button, right? Not always as in my case.

Tried every option or combination of the sensitivity of the other safety systems, and multiple factory resets, and nothing helped.

Did anyone encounter on similar problem, or have any clue what to try next?

Thanks!

I feel U. I got only normal parking sensors, but the front ones are mega annoying when staying at lights. I need to keep either more distance (not very popular in bigger towns) or constantly silencing them.

Get them to ride you in a brand new car and show you it behaving the same, only then you can believe that your car is not at fault.

Seems unlikely. But when I read the manual I got the impression that when first driving after the Battery has been disconnected for a while, the system self-calibrates. Have you tried that?

I tried disconnecting the Battery and it didn't help, unfortunately, but, I've discovered a cause of the issue. It's something related to the steering angle. When the steering wheel is rotated for approx. 1 circle to the right beeping for side sensors stops, only the front ones are working, as it should when going straight. So I guess the steering angle is not calibrated or zeroed correctly.

I'll see the dealership to inspect that. Or maybe there is some workaround to zero it myself? I've seen some videos shorting two pins on an OBD port, but I'm not comfortable doing that (not even sure if it works on new models of Toyotas).

could it possibly be a faulty self parking button constantly seeking a parking space. When stopped normally in my car if sensors has reacted all sensors fade to silence after approx 5 secs.
