Volume defaults to voice recognition when using carplay

I have just collected my 73 plate Yaris and absolutely love it apart from one annoying problem when listening to music. I have an iPhone 15 pro max and when I start the car it picks up the phone and starts playing my music from Amazon music through Apple CarPlay but when I try and switch to DAB radio there is no sound as it switches to voice recognition. If I try to turn up the volume it shows voice recognition instead of media so I can’t listen to the radio

It's an iPhone issue, happens to lots of cars, not just Toyota.

Got so annoying to me on my MX5, I deleted the music from the iPhone and just use an ipad at home for music.

However a recent search found this link...

I have now resolved this. It is caused by Amazon music app. I disabled car mode in the app settings and turned off Alexa and now it is fine. So the issue is with any music app that defaults to speech recognition when it detects you are using Apple CarPlay.

I had the exact same problem and I can concur that what Annewae did fixed my issue as well.
