Avensis 2003 stereo head unit - will a later version be OK?

The stereo in my 2003 Avensis has finally decided  to stop making any noise - the display still shows the channel or track etc, but not a peep.  The satnav still works, so the fault isn't with the Speakers. All fuses are OK, so I guess it's time to visit a breaker's yard.  So, do I need to search for a specific 2003 unit, or will a later one (up to 2008) be compatible, and do I need to worry about trim level (the car is T4 trim)?

Are they expensive and think older cars need a SD card r cd to make maps work .would you not be tempted to buy a half descent android touchscreen headunit . pioneer do nice ones .make sure they have dab+ radio on it
