Magic RAV4 GPS

When I'm away from home and start the car, Apple Maps (via Carplay) automatically displays the route home. I guess it's not unreasonable for an intelligent GPS to assume that if you're away from home, your next likely destination is to go home.

However, I attend a hobby related event which means leaving home to drive a couple of miles at around 6:30pm most Friday evenings.

When I start the car to go to this event, without any input from me, Apple Maps opens on the display in the car, and shows the route from home to the venue - which I know anyway, without the aid of GPS. However, how does it know that's where I'm planning to go?

As it's a regular event it's not in any diaries on my phone, or saved as a favourite anywhere I can think of. Yet the car somehow knows that it's 6:30pm on Friday evening, so I must be going to my usual event. Spooky!

Am I missing something here, or is my car (or phone) even more clever than I thought is was?

All your phone movement will be tracked by Apple.

Wether you describe that as "clever" depends on your views on technology 🤣

Hmm, I suspected it was more to do with my phone than the car iteslf. We know they track us, but clearly they can predict our movements as well 🤔.

Just saw a YT video on just how much data our cars collect and send back to manufacturers. The newer the car, the more data. It’s quite something. But yes your phone also.
