Why is my car revving on its own when stationary

Carpet on the throttle pedal.

Diesel and you aint taken it for a run for a while.

More info about the car would probably help. Is it wet inside? for example.

Hybrids sometimes do things of their own accord (at least ours does).

Would help if the OP said exactly what car it is. One assumes it's a Yaris but that still leaves dozens of possibilities.

Which exact model, year, engine etc.?
Is this on cold start?

Revving up? Do you mean engine kicks in after being on Battery only?
