2007 Rav4 key fob not working

Hi,

i have a 2007 rav4, the key fob hasn’t worked since i’ve had the car to unlock / lock. The little red light flashes when i press either button but it doesn’t do anything. I’ve had an auto electrician look at it and they tried to reprogramme the key but they said i should take it toyota.

i’m a bit reluctant too obviously because of what they’ll charge but was wondering if anyone else had any suggestions before i do take that leap?

How long have you had the car? Is it possible the key is a replacement key.
I was thinking if it is a replacement key maybe it has not been programmed to your car. If the key isn’t a Toyota key at all if it’s been replaced and that could explain why it could not be programmed to your car.

i suspect a trip to Toyota dealer is the solution I’m afraid. 🥴
