On my 4th IQ and I always have an old Apple iPod plugged into the Aux and operate it from the cup holder .

getting a bit tired of this to be honest .  Any other ideas or mods , even to use my iPhone connected to something instead of all the !Removed! wires dangling everywhere .

any ideas welcome

No bluetooth? My iQ features a TNS510 which provides bluetooth for music and calls. Switching between different (e.g. my wife's) cellphones is a nightmare, but sound quality is fine. I also installed that cable a while after collecting the car from the dealership in 2009, but I removed it not much later, as you did, mainly for mismatch with apple's newer connections.

Yep - I also have the TNS with bluetooth and am happy with the Audio quality.  It also has a 3.5m aux and I found an old MP3 player to connect with it but it is such a faff (especially when the Traffic Info (TP) cuts in and there’s no ability to pause the MP3 whilst the flash broadcasts I got more and more frustrated so quickly unhooked  the MP3 eventually forgetting I had it!

Which radio unit do you have?

No TNS in mine and out of all 4 I’ve owned not one had that unit installed , just the dodgy radio and cd player which I never use

Same here!!,I still use the cd/mp3 player it gives around 5 hours play time per cd at 192kz,I believe its a JBL system,it still has a good sound to it.There are a few threads on here where people have changed out the head unit with some modification.

Hello,

I have a 2013 IQ that’s done just over 60,000 miles and it has suddenly stopped going into third gear. After a bit of experimenting it goes into third gear by double clutching, but I wanted to know if anyone has experienced this as I’m getting very expensive quotes from garages.

One garage said it looks like where it goes into third gear has worn down and that they have to send it off to repair it, and for the repair, plus new clutch, Labour, VAT  etc is £1554.

I’ve then been to a Toyota garage, they charged me £96 for a diagnostic to say that the gearbox needs taking apart to find out what the actual problem is and it’s £660 for this as it’s 6.5 hours work to take apart.

They won’t be able to tell me what the issue is until they’ve taken it apart, but have said “off the record” they think it’s the synchro which should be around £100 to fix. But they can’t guarantee me this, worse case scenario is a new gearbox which is probs around £2500, gulp.

They’ve also advised me to not drive the car while I’m making my mind up and to not use third gear at all. Other garage didn’t say anything like this.

Just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue or any advice?

Cheers!

Decided to pick up the bluetooth transmitter and works an absolute treat , only a tenner .  Would love the full on conversion but only travelling 2500 miles a year ( just a few miles to work and back ) I can’t justify such an expense .

Install a radio with Apple CarPlay for greater functionality.

check out crutchfield for things you might need.

I can’t justify that sort of expense when I only have a 3 kile round trip every day

The forum is UK based car audio varies a lot between the Europe/UK and the USA

OP has gone with a budget option, the oem solution for bluetooth is a wired handsfree kit with a SOT (sound on top) cable

Definately do the double din head unit upgrade....its a bit of work but it works really really well, i went for a Joying Android head unit...in fact today ive just ordered another Joying Headunit for our main car (SMAX) - there are threads in here about doing the conversion...if you use an Android unit then you wont need any additional boxes to connect the steering wheel stalk.

Just to add - once youve got everything in front of you....im pretty sure you could do the whole job in less than an hour...with the android unit its literally the one wiring harness and the aerial....if you want the basic install.....i took the right hand pillar out to run both the GPS and DAB aerial to the top left of the windscreen. I also ran the usb extension cables/4g sim cable down to the passenger footwell for nothing more than easy access if i needed to get to them. Id say add another hour for the bells and whistles...minimal tools required....i think a 10mm spanner for bolting the headunit to the new double din cage....all dash panels just pull/clip off.
