Rav4 (2020) Horn

A quick couple of questions. I find the horn on the Rav 4 a bit pathetic to say the lest, I thought it belonged to an early Fiat 500, I'm a bit embarrassed to use it! Questions - 1: Can a 3rd Party manufacturer horn be fitted without messing up the electronic monitoring system? And 2: Any recommendations for a suitable horn?

Thank you so much.

Well, it all rather depends on what you want to use the horn for ...

If you wish to say "excuse me" then the existing horn is perfectly adequate - whether it is fitted to a RAV4 or Fiat 500. Whereas, if you need a road rage signifier it really is embarrassingly pathetic.

When the question has been raised in the past, I recall folk fitting Hella replacements.

Thanks for the reply Philip, I am not prone to road rage, however, there are times when a polite excuse me is far from sufficient! Thanks for the Hella information. Cheers Paul

I always thought the horns on Toyota's had been designed to use in a trains quite coach or a library. Often wondered why some are so low in volume.

My Fiamm set of musical horns mounted on the roof seem to do the trick.

Plays colonel bogey mostly.

I totally agree that RAV4 horn sounds rather embarrassing and after doing a bit of a research I concluded that there are three easy options for the horn upgrade:

Toyota Premium Horns - around £100

Lexus horns (looked up used ones on Ebay) - around £50

Hella horns - about £30

Asked a question on FB in one of the RAV4 accessories groups and many people said that Hella horn is the best option as they give you best value for money so I ordered them. Only got them yesterday and didn't actually manage to install them, hopefully will do once the temperature rises a bit.

Here is the link to ones I've got:
