Bolt gap in rear brakes

NOT MY CAR

Ho! A friend has painted his brake calipers and I wanted to see him doing the job 

so, after install everything, I have noticed this gap in the rear bolts, is it possible? It's a 2019 yaris and my 2017 now has the 'awful iron rims' for the winter season, I cannot see mine without removing the wheel

The pads and the disk are firmly installed as before the paint job, this gap is for both rear brakes, upper and lower guide bolt

That’s the guide pins.  It will vary as the pads wear and is normal.

In your last photo it looks like I am looking at the screw threads IE parts are not tight.

when you turn the guide pin the part it fits into will have two flats on it for a spanner to stop it rotating until it starts to bight onto the metal.

Video shows him fitting a spanner onto nut with rubber bellows attached for pin to move inside

Yes, the threads are visible, but the screws are in place and tight at 34Nm like the vid (front side doesn't have the gap, and this is why I have posted a new thread about it)

Slightly diffrent to what I was expecting but are you sure you are looking at threads shown as when it screwed into its mated part I only expect to see a smooth serface of sholder on bolt.

Both video show diffrent types of fittings in the second video I prefere to remove pins completely clean pin if you see black marks on it then regrease with ceramic brake grease use copper grease at a push.

In first video I still pull the pins out with nut clean and regrease then assemble.

Yes, that’s me in the video working on my old RAV.  That one has nuts on it.  The one in the photo above doesn’t, it has cap head guide pins inside those rubber covers.  It’s academic anyway because the point is, in either design there will always be a gap. Regarding the slide pins, I pull them out and grease them with Ceratec but that was just for illustration, I didn’t put new pads in.  👍

Auto doc videos are helpful to see how the things look or how to gain access to, but don’t take them for correct service procedures. These guys are showing unnecessary use of lubricants at places that they should not and doing so will cause vibrations shortly after. , 2000 miles or so. 👍
