floor matt help

the floormatt is sliding around and being dangerous so been driving without it weeks finally getting round to figuring out what these pins things are and holes in the matt. it says they come apart but i may need a knife to rip it or somethin it wont budge. anyone any idea?

Not sure what you've got there.

There are usually plastic hooks attached to the car floor, and eyes, ie holes with plastic trim in the mats.

The eyes go on the hooks to secure the mat.

No need to cut anything.

So I can only think that you have aftermarket mats with no holes to hook on to the hooks in the floor.

But you are quite right,it is dangerous to have unsecured mats bunching up under the pedals.

theres something in the manuel aswell i can see 2 sortof call them holes in the mats but the hooks dont come apart from the floor, is there a trick to it?

Presume you have floor mat hooks similar to:

The upper hook goes into the floor mat, and the lower clip goes into the carpet.

Sorry Anto, it's difficult to picture, maybe a pic tomorrow, it's dark now of course.

But I can't see why you would need to remove the hooks from the floor unless you were trying to remove the actual carpet from the car, rather than just the mats.

So is it the carpet that has come loose, and is shifting around?

got a reply. tose are the wrong floor mats. they dont come lose the hole shud be bigger to go over the clips

Yes indeed. There should be a hole in the mat that fits over the clip. You rotate the clip 90 degrees to lock/unlock it.
