How to switch to AUX on 2004 corolla TSport head unit W58818

Hi, I've got an adaptor called WT-AUX (pic) and plugged it in but it's not working, not sure if my head unit doesn't work/power it (it has a power light that doesn't light) due to not being wired internally to the pins in the connector (pics attached) 

My W58818 was listed as compatible and the specialist plug fits the empty socket in back perfectly but the DISC button doesn't activate anything even when I plugged in a 3.5mm 

The tricky thing is no adaptors listed by year actually list a 2004 corolla, it looks like the post face-lift TSport is in the doldrums between old and new internals, the stereo has new plugs and new wiring used for many subsequent years but doesn't have a factory aux port or cd changer

Does anyone have any info or have had any success?

Hi,

No experience of using those adapters, but if you search the forum you will find some similar threads on this subject, but seem to remember even the popular Connects2 adapters only work with some models.

Assume you are trying to connect a phone for music playback etc ?

A couple of alternatives we have done, initially plugged one of these FM transmitters into the Cig socket which allows you to playback via a usb stick, which did give a reasonable playback sound.

Though we eventually replaced the whole head unit with a modern double din touch screen unit.

Many around  at various prices but we went for one of  these base units in case it did not fit or look good,  actually works ok for the £25 price tag, + a mounting/bezel  kit.

Hi I am looking for an OEM replacement orange lights headunit W58818 (86120-02460) or w58819 (02470).  One I have received in the car lights green which has clearly been replaced with the wrong colour.  If anyone has a good looking unit in full working condition please let me know.

 UK variants seem to have the  Green ones like ours , though not sure about the UK T Sport model.

Think eBay and similar sites will be the best place to get one , though this NL site seems to sell them s/h.
