I have a habit of keeping a (toy) model of every car type I’ve owned.  If new, I could usually get the dealer to provide one from the manufacturer’s promo stock.  As I got fed up with branded umbrellas - this turned into an unintentional hobby.  Because I was late in my appreciation of the iQ, that ship had sailed, so I looked on a well-known auction site. Wow - £150?  Just the usual 1:43 scale, but several sellers were in this ball park.  Switch to a different Toyota model, and the price plummets to the the expected £10-£15 mark.

Can it be because the model is no longer made?  Nope, other retired models are cheaper still.  As much as I love my iQ, This is just a heads up, if you already have a model - take care of it… it’s becoming valuable!

You really don't need a toy model of the iQ. Just park your real one on the mantelpiece.

To be fair, that’s why I thought it would be cheaper!

Shame the postage costs more than the model - and it’s only from France!

You could also download a free 3D model of an iQ and get someone to 3D print it - plenty of online services for cheap.

There is also a glass block 'model' of the iQ that Toyota gave out to pre-orders back in later 2008. I have one somewhere. Although I don't see any on eBay.

Iain - I have a standing search on eBay and one pre-order block was listed for £30 earlier this year, but as you note, they’re pretty rare!  The iQ appears well represented in the past, with at least 5 manufacturers offering 1/43 scale but if not boxed are in scrappy condition and you cannot easily tell if they are metal, plastic or even 3D printed!

Minichamp makes a nice IQ in different colors, they can be found in the 10 euro range everywhere.
