Is the spanner service indicator. Purely mileage based or also time based?

Eg would the mileage countdown deceesse with time even when stationary for long periods (12 month vountdown)?

I think it is only Km base.  If you have pre-2014 November made 1.8 hybrid Auris, don't overdue oil change. The engine will consume a lot of oil and at the end cause more troubles and more oil per year.  Change the oil maximum 5-8k miles interval, 6-8 months instead of 1 year.  If you have post 2014 November made engine, it has revised piston rings and pistons  and has less likely consume engine oil even with 1 year interval.
