Yaris fault B0138

Has anyone managed to resolve B0138 fault code. Have had a replacement passenger seatbelt assembly fitted and this has not resolved the issue. Thinking about replacing the ECU under the centre console to see if that resolved it but don't really want to be spending more money if it won't fix the issue. It's a 2002 so parts are not really available.

Thanks

Have you googled the fault code? There seems to be a fair bit of information about it, particularly about Corollas.

Unplug the sensor (Battery disconnected for 15 mins) rescan for codes - if the code changes, you know it's the sensor, if it still has the P0138 it's in the wiring

you had the seat belt assy changed, did they check the actual airbag sensor on the B pillar ?

Throwing parts at it isn't the way forward

PM me your vin, so I can find the correct part

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, new to forum where do I click to send pm. Will try and send vin tomorrow. Have a mobile mechanic trying to fix issue at the moment, car is due MOT so will fail without fixing the issue. Where abouts is sensor located? Issues started not long after a recall. but dealer said it was nothing to do with what they done and issue was with coil on steering. Because of age of car new parts from dealer dont seem to be available. Initially mechanic could just turn off fault it would be alright for a while with no flashing light and then it would randomly return but now he can't clear the fault

Thanks.

s-l960.thumb.webp.a775e6c2ce7dc2a5a1b7b17118077064.webpVin no vnkkv123x0a070355, so the B pillar is the bit the seatbelt assembly is mounted to?. Is it at top or bottom as mechanic didn't mention other sensors. I think there was a connection that plugged into the bottom of seat belt assembly. Picture of the part that was replaced

Cheers for this, will have a look to see if I can locate the sensor. Would this only exist if the car has side/seat airbags.

Don't seem to be any available when I do a Google search for them.

its the side impact sensor - yes it has belt tensioners not sure if it has airbags in the seats - double-checked, yours has the side airbags in the seats

off the top of my head try Tanygroes car dismantlers what I believe is in Cardigan - it needs to come from a mk1, 5 door, 01-03

Have now had wiring etc checked by an auto electrician and he believes the SRS module is faulty.

Part no. 89170-0d040, which doesn't seem to be available online.

There are others with similar part no, will they be any good.?

Thanks

I still would not rule out the sensor

going by the part numbers, the car has front airbags only - you will not get a new one - trip to the breakers or send it off for repair
