engine warning light

I have just bought a 2017 Rav 4 and had it checked out for faults at a Bosch garage. After running diagnostics and a full mechanical check they
gave it the all clear. However after driving home about 50km the Engine warning light came on. as below. A friend has a basic obd2 adaptor and he found the fault was showing as air
flow intake. He reset the fault but it came back on again within 10 km. Any ideas? Thanks

He didn't "reset the fault", but merely dismissed the fault indicator. Since the fault was still present the indicator returned [within 10 km].

It is usually wise to undertake a Toyota specific diagnostic - manufacturers do occasionally have a slightly different interpretation of the generic diagnostic codes.

Assuming the generic diagnosis is correct you probably need to look at the mass airflow sensor - or at least the connections to it. It could be a connection issue ...

But personally, I'd take the car to a Toyota dealer to have the problem investigated and resolved.

Had the same fault on a Vauxhall Corsa a while back. Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF). It was just a lump of plastic with some thin wire sensors inside that was a fitted aft of the air filter I think. I bought a new one for about 40 quid from eBay and fitted it in about 10 minutes. Very straightforward. Not sure how hard it is for a RAV though.
