Celica Alarm Help

This has happened before in an NCP carpark in Manchester, had to get the RAC out. According to the RAC bloke my alarm uses a rolling code system and something had triggered the alarm in the car and re-issued another code. My key fob was not transmitting that code therefore would not de-activate the alarm.

His soloution was to dis-connect the car Battery and take out the Battery from the key fob, wait a while then re-connect the batterys and press the alarm set button for about 30 seconds. Is this the correct procedure? Whilst all this is going on the alarm is active, is there any way of stopping it?

These might sound daft questions but I am pretty much clueless with cars.

Thanks,

Steve.

Sortred now, the car Battery had run out of charge therefore disabling the alarm, jump leads and a bit mad motorway driving has sorted the problem.

Cheers,

Steve.
