Uber Driver, Southern AZ, USA

Hey all!

I have a 2017 Toyota Yaris iA, with roughly 32000 miles on it. It was bought new by my mother, who barely drove it, and only drove it in town. She kept up with scheduled maintenance via her dealership, and when I bought it from her it had around 29000 miles on it, brand new tires, and a brand new Battery. It is the newest car I have ever owned, and aside from ghosts of old stickers on the rear side windows tinting, the body (metallic blue paintjob) and (dark tinted) glass are pretty much in perfect shape.

My main aim in joining these forums is because I want to connect with other Toyota owners and get informed, experienced info on DIY maintenance, and learn of possible future issues to look out for.

I am an Uber driver, so I expect this vehicle will be getting about 5000 miles per month. Since I live in Southern AZ, I am assuming the extreme weather and dust will require me to change oil and filter every 5000 miles instead of every 10000.

At 30000 I DIY changed the oil (full synthetic 0W-20) and filter and rotated the tires. At 35000 I will do the oil and filter again, and probably the ATF, because I don't have any record of when it was done last. Because of the extreme conditions I am assuming it is probably best to change ATF every 30000 miles. I didn't have time to do it at 30000, and would like to get a flush machine before doing it, just to make sure I do it right.

I didn't expect to like this car, as I am normally a van/panel truck type of guy (and have never owned a Toyota before,) but I really love this little car. My passengers love it also. Even though it is small, it is fun to drive and ride in. It feels like a transcontinental road racer! 😎
