It will be the most efficient car of its shape, size and performance bracket., no doubt about it. Just look around what taxis are driving todays. Metropolitan police also has switched to Corolla, been seen these a lot now in London. The best move the authorities could do , switch to hybrids.

I drive motorways at 60mph with cruise control on in lane one. Occasionally overtaking HGVs if they are struggling on hills and there's a gap in front but mostly just sitting in lane one.

My 1.8 Excel can turn in 70mpg on a long motorway journey. Even in current winter conditions (cold-ish, wet) it seems able to hit 60 mpg if the journey is long enough.

To be clear though motorway driving isn't really where the hybrid system works best. The hybrid system is primarily about reducing the inefficiencies of an ICE at low loads. It can still do some good at higher speeds but it's not such a marked impact.

Marginal above 65 mph. I found that when I started using my Yaris after the Peugeot 208 EAT6 (Automatic transmission) I had that if I ran at my usual 110 kph, then there was little difference between them at autoroute speeds, so I knocked my cruising speed down to 105 kph, and now I only go at 105 kph if I'm in a hurry 😂. Usual Autoroute speed is now 100kph, for a 125 km journey that I make quite often, that has sections limited to 90, or even 70, kph, I find traffic density in the last few km before arriving at my destination makes more difference in overall journey time.
