EPB/caliper

Hi all,

Just after some support on a EPB check parkin brake error.

So the EPB looks OK as it's never given me an issue before, however I don't drive the car as much now (annual 3k).  I've cleaned round the back of the calipers and cable that comes into parking section and temporarily this fixes the issues.

From what I can see the calipers need changing which I have brought after market calipers.

My intention was to replace and then recondition the old ones. However the Clevis pins appear to be welded in place with rust.

Unsure of best approach and also the size of the clevis pin required once removed.

Thx

Parking brake issues with these can often be due to rust or other physical issues with the calliper pins being too hard to move or able to move fully as expected by the system.

Try fitting your new aftermarket ones then give refurbishing your originals a go. I’d say if in decent condition after having rust removed would be worth re-using the originals. You probably won’t know until you get them out and a proper look at them

Thx for your response.  After having another proper look, it's actually the epb brake cable clevis fork & pin that is rusted and also part broken.  Think this was causing the issue with error.

After a good clean it's going well without issue at the moment.

Unfortunately not as I've not actually changed this as one part of the fork is intact and the other has failed on the bottom side so acts as a hook.  Currently works hence not really messed around with this over Christmas.  Will look to have welded etc in year year.
