I am considering purchasing a 2024 Toyota Corolla and am unsure as to whether i can plug my USB flash drive into USB port and play music from it.   In addition can i plug Apple IPOD Touch in and play from it.  Late edit also a sandisk  card with  USB adapter.

Yes, you can but it will have to be formatted with a FAT variant of some kind. Also in my experience if you have a lot of tracks on it there can be a lengthy delay sometimes to load the track listing. Anything that interrupts playback such as a service or updating the maps caused a rescan.

I prefer to use bluetooth to stream from my Android phone.

Another option when I'm using satellite navigation is Android Auto (the built-in sat nav is okay but I see no point in paying to update mine).

I think can plug an iPod touch in as well. Depends whether Apple require you to use an adaptor to connect to USB.

You can only use 1 device at a time <64gb formatted in fat32 (pc formatted) for usb sticks/memory cards

Intention is too use only 1 at a time.   Just want to make sure the system will recognize the music on it.

The issue is indexing….

always indexing…

i experimented with this recently and found that downloading my mp3’s to an iPhone 5s fixed this.
plugging the phone in i had both album and artist info.

so “play pink floyd” worked lol.

obviously any large format iPhone would work. You dont need sim or wifi enabled just treat as a large ipod.

native usbs are limited to 64gb Max due to head unit limitations. Plus the fat32 file system has limited support for the meta data in the music file.

This method does not have that restriction.

The 2022 Corolla I had would play MP3's from a USB stick no problem. It would also play MP4 music videos. Sadly, the Yaris Cross I now have will play MP3's from the USB stick, but the head unit does not have the capability of playing MP4's. . A dealer might be able to give you proper information for the 2024 version.

I use one of the small USB sticks and MP3 music files. With the small USB it only sticks out about 5mm so there is no chance of knocking it.

After so much digging and testing my fix was I had to use a 32GB MAX USB C memory stick for my 2023 Corolla LE to find the music
