Hello all.  Back again with my Ipod problem.

I've  now got Android Auto  set up via an MA1 using the under dash data port so connecting  the Ipod by wire is not an option.

Still very keen to get my Ipod working (as it was in my 2020 Rav4 which accepted a wire connection) I'm  on the bluetooth  trail....Following the usual add device route with the Ipod, Iacan get it to come up as a device and actually  play  a track. However I now get a message on the Ipod saying device presumably  the Toyota media system is not supported  and it shows an ok button. Pressing has no effect  except to keep cycling this Ipod message continually.

It seems that  a bluetooth connection can be made and both devices register the  other as you would  expect but this infuriating message appears on the Ipod preventing use. I  can see and hear the track being played and the details even come up in the Toyota  display!

Anyone else have this problem? I realise my Ipod is somewhat  dated but works perfectly  with my bluetooth  Speakers which run the latest bluetooth  systems 5 or something?

Hope I'm not becoming the forum's Ipod obsessive post but my whole music collection is in this superb Ipod and I want to play it in my  superb new car!

Any ideas?

As usual thanks for any help and advice.

There's literally only one way to play an iPod through the car stereo system, and you've blocked access with the lead for the MA1.

I know it's not the solution you're looking for, but as your music collection is more important than the device you're playing it through, why not just transfer your music over to your phone and play it through android auto?

I uploaded all my music to YouTube Music long ago and just play it via Android Auto (no subscription required!)

Question for you: how are you finding the MA1 - is it reliable? What phone are you using with it?

I tried AAWireless and it didn't work for me.

Thanks for your reply.   My phone is a Xiaomi Poco F3.

My concern about loading my music  on to the phone is that I might lose the playlists.   Same worry with uploading YouTube music.  Can you retain playlists?

The MA1 is a nice bit of kit but I'm  having a bit of familiarity trouble.  I thought that if you got in the car with phone on, the MA1 would go live within say 30 seconds and Auto would load up and I would be able to have it all ok more or less before I'd  buckled  up.

I find I'm  going into the media screen to bluetooth  devices and setting the phone to Android  Auto only and therby unselecting media and phone  buttons.  This isn't a comms problem as the media and phone work through AA but the load up sequence  is a bit more laborious  than expected.   Maybe I'm doing something wrong at either the phone or media end.

That's what should happen.

I think I'll stick to wired, at least that's seamless.

Apparently there is a solution to that:

Thanks but van you connect  to YT via AA?  I thought I saw some warning  about not using YT when driving?

As you see, I've  a long way to go...!

You use Youtube music, which works with Android Auto
