Fading sales…. Time for significant facelift/spec upgrade?

^^^^ That is a good premise I too had considered. Although I am contradicting my opening comment, as long as the RAV maintains healthy worldwide sales (rather than being blinkered by UK/EU sales figures), Toyota will not see any need to radically update the car. A 2026/27 RAV4.6 launch fits with previous model cycles too.

This might suggest a 2026 new model based upon the tables provided or does his only apply to BEV.

I suspect that it is primarily focused on the BEV market ...

It suggests by 2026 we might see a mk2 bZ4X with a range of up to 500 miles - so for 2024/2025 we still have to live with a bZ4X with a range of 300 miles. And by 2027 we might start seeing more affordable, smaller Toyota EVs with ranges around 350 miles. But nothing much else new before 2028 - and that's still a fair way away in strategic planning terms.

Much of the improvement is forecast in terms of weight reduction and aero efficiency - quite what that means for a brick shaped RAV4 is anyone's guess. As for EV range on a PHEV there has to be a limit / cut-off for the 'two engine' compromise. Once you get to a useable daily EV range you have to start asking why got switch to pure BEV and ditch the redundant engine. Maybe we'll see more focus on BEVs with range extended engines ... ?

All is of course mere speculation and opinion! 😉
