There are differences between 23 and 24 Corolla. Wireless Android Auto is  new on the 24.

Carlinkit 5.0 ordered, arrived, installed. Pairing was really plug & play and I was so happy! Right after the pairing I headed home, roughly 40km. AA with two maps and spotify. It worked smoothly only 30 min to stop abruptly. Phone killed AA and 16 other apps because of overheatingt (!). I was lucky to repeat the installation later home, but with some major problems. Right after it started working again I turnd the car off and on, but Carlinkid didn't reconnect.

I did some more tries, but with more and more problems with each consecutive try. It looked like car multimedia learned to reject (uncompatible) device. I know, I know, there is no AI in toyota, but... who knows? Joking 🙂

I also did some tweaking, have firmware updated, nothing helped. So after all I decided to return the device. This tool is not for me, I have to live with cable 😞

It looks that there is something in that toyota corolla is not on the AA compatibility list...

Did you go to the settings of the carlinkit?

you can change the auto negotiation of the carlinkit to lock it to either aa or acp. That stops false or rejected connections

to get to the advanced settings on an iPhone you go to 192.168.50.2 when connected to the kit.

on an android you need to download the app from their website.

i have been using carlinkit 5 for a year now.

one thing i have found is dont get into an update frenzy. Unless you really need to dont update once you have found the revision that works in your car and turn off autoupdating.

Yes, I did it and it changed nothing. As far as I know (from the net) it is "hit and miss" business with all this dongles. What works for you may not work for me. And it doesn't, actually 😞

I got Samsung Galaxy S20 ultra. Quite decent phone. Works fine in any environment but this one. Yeah, I've heard AAwireless is an alternative, thinking of it. Thx for the hint.

Hi there,

I have a Motorola MA1 for more than a year. It worked like a charm in my Volkswagen Tiguan, but now in my Toyota Highlander it just worked when I manually connect the phone (Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra) with the car. It never connected automatically. It seems to me that Toyota Smart Connect initiates the bluetooth but is not accepting connections during the initial seconds, so the phone try to connect, and when failed, it doesn't try again...

The solution I found was forcing the connection with an app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gonext.bluetoothpair), which keep trying up to 5 times in intelvals of 15-20 seconds before giving up. Now I can have wireless AA easily every time I jump into my car within 30 seconds from the starts.

I hope these lines could help other desperate users like me, who are reading multiple threads looking for a working solution. Well this was mine 😉

Cheers

Good for you 🙂. I think I'll try maybe after the upcoming software update. Several bugs were found and (maybe) recovered, perhaps one responsible for this mess.
