Approved Used - 2nd Service 3.5k Miles Over

On a 4 year old Yaris Hybrid the 2nd Service by the 1st owner was 3.5k Miles overdue but within 12 months of the first service. The Vehicle has since had 2 more services well within 12 Months/ 10k Miles.

Could this ever cause an issue with any potential warranty claims etc?

I can't imagine so.  If you're buying it from a dealer who is marketing / promoting the car as having 'full service history' then they are obliged to live up to that, or reimburse you when suddenly that's cited as a reason for refusing service (to the value of what they would pay less than for a car with FSH or part / none).  Screenshot or save the ad page on their website. Or even tell them you want it in writing on the docs when buying the car - for peace of mind. They should understand as you might service it or trade it in elsewhere in the future, which is a legit reason for asking them to do so.

My Avensis is an ex-lease car (presumably serviced in house by the small lease company) so no documentation, possibly not even the first service on record (I must double check). However, when  I bought it in 2022 (1.5 years left of warranty) I was able to get the drivers door handle (inside), hand brake actuator (pricey part!) and then just in September past, a 1,200 climate control unit replaced - all under warranty - in a car with no service history on paper.  So I think you'll be fine.

My local dealer just presumed because of the cars age it was in warranty, never bothered checking for service history or asking for proof. Toyota obviously approved the claims too.

I think you'll be fine 🙂
