Recall for ECU Update - campaign YGG81

Recommended Posts

Recall letter arrived this morning - campaign YGG81

It would appear there is a problem where a 'programming error' (their words) in the ECU can cause the multifunction display to go blank and disable various functions: Hazard lights, Indicators & Pre-collision system. I've never had such an issue however l have booked it in for the 4th January.

Wasn't clear from the letter if it applies to all bz4x models or just the Premier version.

Looks like it’s for all models. Mine is booked in for next week.

Mine is with the dealer today - looks like there a couple of other updates getting done at the same time. Not sure what they are - yet.

Hey there! So, my dealer told me that my car got two recall updates and its first service. I'm not sure about the details of the second recall, though. I didn't notice any changes after the updates!

I also requested the sat nav map to be updated because we're still using really old versions. Turns out Toyota forgot to release an update for the map. Usually, these navigation devices get updated twice a year! I'll definitely be reaching out to Toyota to complain about this.

All done. One of the updates (Campaign 23GB0) is a set of locking wheel bolts. Got in the car and there was a nice grey plastic Toyota box with the four old bolts and the 'wheel nut fitment' on the passenger seat - wasn't expecting that.

Campaign 3926D which was done last year

and YGG81 which is what it went in for.

All no cost to me.

Just had mine done, and same as you with locking wheel bolts

It was classed as a recall on the dealer documentation but l didn't get any notification from Toyota (and l suspect no other bz4x owners in the UK did). When l get the feedback request from Toyota I'll have a moan.

That said I can't understand why locking wheel bolts were not included with the car on delivery.

'cos then the wheels might not have been able to fall off quite so easily ... 😇

I did actually get a recall notice letter from Toyota before I took it in for the update.

Hi everyone

Just had my Bz4x into Toyota garage for recall on ecu reprogramming and wheel nuts only to be told they have damaged my back passenger door when fixing it not Happy waiting for it to be repaired. 🤨

At least they owned up to the damage so many would look the other way and hope for the best.

Accidents unfortunately do happen sometimes, it's the way they handle it and put right for you that matters. They were honest enough to own up to it
