Hello - bumper question!

Hello all,

 

New to the forum, my missus has, what I believe is a MK1 aygo AB10  (58 reg) we love the car, very economical to run and really easy to fix!

We bought it really cheap of a friend, and have slowly got it near perfect, manifold had a hole, rear glass loose etc! Recently been looking at changing the bumper as the current one is a bit scuffed and dented! Found that I can get a second facelift one cheap, believe it's off a AB30 (2012-14 reg) generation? Same style as ours but has LED DRLs been trying to find out if these are compatible or a little bit more involved!

I could be wrong (please feel free to correct me), but I believe:

• The bumper should fit without any problem
• Electrically however, I don't think there are any connection / rely or BCM function prepared for the Day Time Running Light on a 2008 Aygo.

The reason being DRL was introduced to the Aygo since 2012, which makes it hard to believe Toyota had the functionality prepared 4 years in advance.

So if you intend to use the DRL, you'll probably had to do a bit of modification.  The simplest would be get a DRL controller:

For Example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/37343701999 Red with terminal end goes to the Battery Positive.  Black with the terminal end goes to the Battery Negative.  Yellow splice into side light positive (so the DRL will dim itself when the side light turns on).  Then the Red and Black wire that stuck together is what supplies the DRL power.  I've actually use one of these before.  DRL will turn on when the car runs (detects greater than 13v).  When you turn off the car, the DRL will stay on for 5 to 20 seconds then turn itself off.  I HAVEN'T tried to pass MOT with it through (although it might pass) because I don't want to introduce uncertainties.  So I just take the fuse out before MOT, the put it back in afterwards.
