Tpms tool (techstream) will be required. I have heard the aftermarket sensors can be troublesome (needing to be paired every so often).

I saw a you tube video where a guy removes the unit using the jack to push back the tyre. Then replaces the coin Battery in the original factory sensor using a new tabbed Battery, some solder and silicon. If oem is too costly, then i would take this route. Bonus is that no pairing is required.

My problem is it is not a Battery problem as the sensor itself got damaged

so will have to repair the whole unit Yes saw the video you mention

neat trick to remove a tyre The Toyota sensor is slightly different to one used in video as valve shaft is part of sensor and can not be separated but this should not matter to the procedure .my only concern is will car computer read new sensor .Have NCT(MOT)coming up so need to get it sorted

Thanks again for your reply much appreciated

I very much doubt it will pickup the new sensor. If you have a laptop, you can pickup  the toyota techstream interface and software for about £20. Its a bit fiddly to install, but i got mine running on windows 11. This should enable you to pairup the new sensor assuming its compatible.

If you still can return it, return it. Aftermarket never works reliably for long enough time for TPMS Toyota.  If you cannot return it, then just sell it.  Installing TPMS and reprogram it cost a lot of money, and installing aftermarket makes us poorer, not saving money at all.    Just go to your dealership, get the original TPMS and ask them to reprogram it for you.  If your tires are also wearing out, replace it at the same time too. That way, you can save money for the tire installations also.  Easily €60-80 saving for a set of tires/TPMS.
