eCall Fault

Had same problem twice now some weeks apart.

There is an alert 'click, click,  click' every 30 seconds or so.  This occurs after start.  We located the noise toj the eCall switch area.

On both occasions we stopped and switched off.  After restarting the problem had gone.  ECall displayed a green light.

Any ideas?

There was an official recall for a problem with the eCall unit. Perhaps check that your vehicle is not due a recall?

It was an  "over the air" recall...so should have been updated automatically?

Right. I just spotted that Roy has a Cross... I was thinking current (2023) Yaris...

That was also an OTA update.  At least, that’s what my letter said.

Unless I am wrong, the normal Yaris doesn't get that kind of connectivity until the 2024 model comes out?

As I said, the letter I got was quite clear that the update would be delivered OTA without me doing anything.

Thinking about it the e-call unit must have connectivity in order to function.

True but if there's a connectivity fault, how can they connect to update it? Chicken and egg?

Here is the recall letter from Toyota…

‘Fault’ apparently wasn’t a “connectivity fault” and it quite clearly states that update will be OTA.
